Galloway Escapes will be working with the talented Leah Halliday to host the first Sewing Retreat at Craigbittern on the 29th of September.

Join us for a creative adventure of sewing workshops, mouthwatering food, and long-lasting friendships against the stunning backdrop of the Solway Coast.

Our Sewing Retreat involves a two-night stay at Craigbittern. All meals are provided, including canapés and a three-course celebration meal on the Saturday night, and there will be three sewing workshops over the course of the weekend: a three hour workshop on Friday, a full day on Saturday and a final three-hour workshop on Sunday.

In between workshops, you’ll be free to relax and explore the beautiful surroundings of the Solway coasts: a perfect chance to escape the stresses of modern life.

Happy Clients that have stayed with us

  • Okay, so the best thing about Craigbittern was the space, it was large enough not to be tripping over each other (we were three families, including 6 teenagers). We often go away together, but in other places we have been a bit cramped at some point (parking, kitchen, dining, whatever..). Actually the dinning room is fabulous and we all sat together at the table for dinner which does not happen very often any more. And the games room was a hit. Oh, and I got 4G (on Vodafone) which is a rarity in this part of the country. The wifi’s fine, but it was getting hammered by the kids. We had a very lovely holiday stay in a chilly mid-February and would very happily come back again

  • I stopped here for new year 2016/2017. The house is furnished incredibly well & looks amazing. There was plenty of room for everyone to celebrate without feeling cramped. The house is just across the road from the beach where you can join the coastal path to Kippford & take in the beautiful local scenery. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for somewhere special to stay.

  • The beautiful views of the Irish Sea from the house led me into a morning run to the beach to discover a stunning landscape of green hills, shallow waters and steep cliffs. Definitely made an exceptional start to my Saturday! The house is furnished to a very high standard and made us feel cost and warm. For those wanting to spend quality time with their friends, this is the perfect retreat (the house accommodates 13 people!).

  • What a perfect place to celebrate with friends! The house is beautiful with real fires and huge sofas to relax on with a film, book or just enjoy the wonderful sea views - the beach is just across from the house. We had fun playing table tennis in the games room! The surrounding area is great for walking but I found it hard to leave the house and gardens as this is one of the most relaxing places I have ever stayed at!

  • We stopped here for new year with a large bunch of friends and what a perfect way to see in the new year. The house is amazing and very well equipt, from the decor and furnishings, the hidden den for the kids, cosy throws and a real fire, farmhouse style kitchen and the stunning beach just over the road. There's a lovely coastal walk up to kipford which has stunning views and at the end a pub to enjoy a well earned drink! It's a great holiday home to escape day to day life and I will certainly look forward to spending time here again!
