We can’t wait to get back to welcoming you to our lovely holiday properties in this beautiful corner of the world and hopefully this will be a reality in the not-too-distant future.
With this in mind, and taking into consideration the framework and timeline put in place by the Scottish government, we’ve started working on what the future might look like; Normal 2.0 if you will.
Our to do list for opening is ever growing and as soon as it is safe to do so, we’ll be back at the properties cleaning, gardening and generally preening everything. We’ve started to plan what this reopening will look like and what we need to change, increase etc, to ensure that it is safe for our guests, our cleaners, ourselves and our community. This will be in the forefront of our minds for the foreseeable future. Additionally, our region, like most others globally, has suffered tremendously as a result of Covid-19 in terms of businesses struggling. Dumfries and Galloway is particularly dependant on tourism, accounting for about 10% of all the jobs in the area.
We are, and will continue, to follow all guidance and regulation provided both by the government and also by the Associations that provide guidance within the industry.
We think it’s important to keep you informed as to what ‘the plan’ is going forward, as we know how important all these elements would be to us if we were spending our hard earned money going on holiday somewhere at the moment.
Some of the policies and practices we are currently working on are listed below:
Ensuring clean properties has always been important, but never like it will be from now on. We are going to work with our cleaners to add processes and steps to the cleaning schedule to ensure that our cleaning is thorough enough provide maximum safety to guests. Cleaning will be done using the right products and processes and wearing the right protection. If that involves adding time to the turn overs in order for the cleaners to be able to safely and thoroughly clean properties, then we will look at adding a gap of a day or two between stays.
This is another area where we will keep an eye on the government guidance, but also the supporting information from our associations.
We offer our guests a lovely welcome hamper on arrival with lots of local goodies to enjoy and handy stuff to keep you going such as eggs, bread and milk. We’re looking to add some cleaning products to this, such as antibacterial wipes and hand sanitiser (if we can source it). This will allow guests to keep hygiene levels high whilst they are with us, to reduce risk and increase peace of mind.
Our laundry service company has increased their hygeine practices in line with the current pandemic. This includes the temperatures at which laundry is washed and some of the products they use. The company is currently closed due to the pandemic, so on opening we will further discuss their practices and procedures.
We’re looking at what we can do to provide timely, accurate information about the local area in terms of whats open, where you can visit and what the procedures are and if there are any restrictions in place. Now more than ever, we will endeavour to promote our local area and it’s businesses to ensure that when guests return, they frequent these great local businesses in the hope of ensuring as many as possible survive the impact of the pandemic.
We have in the past provided various paperwork relating to what there is to see and do in the area but currently this doesn’t seem to be a wise action going forward. We will though, continue to send out our local are guide to guests prior to their arrival, to ensure that they know what there is to see and do in the area. We encourage anyone with questions about specific things to do in the area to get in touch with us.
Both of our properties are ideal for maintaining safe social distancing measures from other people. The surroundings are such that there are plenty of places you can visit, walk where you won’t see another person all day. We’ll put together some more information about these places for you, should this be pertinent at the time of opening.
We are researching, reading, learning, to ensure that we are as educated as possible as to how to keep ourselves, our guests and our communities safe, as well as ensuring our guests have the best possible time when they stay with us. If you would like more information about anything to do with your stay, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 07961 095 598.
